JPMorgan Predicts Bitcoin Will Outpace Stocks, Bonds, and Gold Over the Next Decade. Is Bitcoin Now a Screaming Buy?
Yahoo Finance ·
JPMorgan Chase 's ( JPM +0.74% ) asset management division recently released the 2027 Long-Term Capital Market Assumptions report, an annual research report that includes 10- to 15-year return projections. For the first time, it has a returns forecast for Bitcoin ( BTC -0.13% ) , and expects the top cryptocurrency to outperform the major asset classes. It's another sign of the growing acceptance of cryptocurrency. CEO Jamie Dimon previously called Bitcoin a fraud, and as recently as 2025, he said he didn't see its value. However, a positive forecast doesn't necessarily mean Bitcoin is a slam-dunk investment. JPMorgan's base case for Bitcoin is 10% annualized returns over the next 10 to 15 years, but the bank sees a wide range of potential returns. Its bear case is -11.2%, and its bull case is about 16.5%. For perspective, JPMorgan forecasts annualized returns of 7.5% for U.S. large-cap stocks , 7.7% for small-cap stocks, 5.5% for gold, and 5.6% to 6.6% for U.S. bonds. Real estate investment trusts (REITs) came in at 8.2%. If JPMorgan's base cases are accurate, $100 invested in Bitcoin would grow to $259 over the next 10 years. The same amount invested in large caps would grow to $206. The press release for JPMorgan's report specifically noted that Bitcoin isn't included as an allocation. The bank also hasn't yet included Bitcoin in its main covariance matrices, the models it uses to determine how much of an asset belongs in a portfolio.

In its 2027 Long-Term Capital Market Assumptions report, JPMorgan Asset Management projected that Bitcoin will outperform stocks, bonds, and gold with an annualized return of 10% over the next 10 to 15 years. This exceeds large-cap stocks at 7.5%, gold at 5.5%, and US bonds at 5.6-6.6%. JPMorgan's shift in perspective, having been historically skeptical of Bitcoin, demonstrates the accelerating institutional adoption of cryptocurrencies.
상승 영향
- Bitcoin — Expected to outperform equities and gold with a 10% annualized return in JPMorgan's long-term outlook, driving expectations of institutional capital inflows.
하락 영향
- Gold — JPMorgan's long-term return projection of 5.5% is lower than Bitcoin's 10%, which may relatively diminish its appeal as an alternative investment asset.
- Bonds — Expected long-term returns for US bonds are in the 5.6-6.6% range, offering lower expected returns than Bitcoin and potentially facing capital outflow pressures.
DYAX 전담 분석
JPMorgan's latest outlook increases the likelihood of inclusion in institutional asset allocation models, acting as a causal factor driving expanded Bitcoin demand. While a bull case scenario could yield an average annual return of 16.5%, a bear case scenario carries a downside risk of -11.2%, making it essential to keep a close eye on volatility indicators.
Investors must monitor whether Bitcoin is incorporated into portfolios and track regulatory changes. Risk management that accounts for high volatility compared to traditional assets is indispensable.
