Amazon Prime $2.5 billion FTC settlement: Are you eligible for a refund? Ivana Pino · Senior Writer Thu, July 23, 2026 at 12:16 PM EDT 2 min read The clock is ticking for Amazon Prime members who are eligible to receive a payout from the company's $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The deadline to file a claim is Monday, July 27. The FTC sued Amazon in 2023, alleging the company enrolled tens of millions of customers in Amazon Prime subscriptions without their knowledge or consent, making it intentionally difficult for them to cancel. Based on the settlement reached last year, Amazon agreed to pay $1.5 billion in refunds to customers affected by its Prime enrollment in addition to a $1 billion civil penalty. Amazon denied any wrongdoing as part of the settlement. Some customers received automatic refunds in November and December of 2025. However, not receiving an automatic refund doesn't mean you're not eligible for a payout. If you are eligible to submit a claim, you may have received a notice either by email or in the mail. Have signed up for a Prime subscription through a "challenged enrollment flow" or tried to cancel through the online cancellation flow but were unable to do so between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025. The "challenged enrollment flows" include the universal Prime decision page, shipping selection page, single page checkout, or the Prime Video enrollment flow Used no more than three Amazon Prime Benefits in any 12-month period following enrollment If you meet all of these requirements, you can contact Amazon at admin@SubscriptionMembershipSettlement.com to file a claim or file a claim online at https://www.subscriptionmembershipsettlement.com/. Eligible Prime customers could receive up to $51, which they can elect to receive via check, PayPal, or Venmo. Amazon expects to send payments in late 2026. However, it hasn't announced a mailing date for payments. Another payment is on the way to Facebook users eligible for a cash settlement in a $725 million class-action lawsuit related to privacy issues. Comcast is offering payouts as part of a $117 million settlement over a 2023 data breach. Here's what you need to know about qualifying for a payment. Capital One customers awaiting a payout from the $425 million class-action settlement could face a delay of a year or longer. Blue Cross Blue Shield is set to start issuing payments from a $2.67 billion class-action settlement. Who gets paid and how much? Fidelity Investments' $2.5 million settlement for a data breach that compromised consumer information on its website is just days away from a claim deadline.
